With a track record of consistent leadership and positive progress, Greg Meyers has specific agenda items to tackle now and into the next term.
Greg's two main objectives for seeking another term as your HISD Trustee are the following:
Greg will continue to emphasize the importance of funding the work done in the classroom. He will also continue to stand in support of school choice in HISD.
There is a responsibility for HISD to be a good fiscal steward of our taxpayer dollars. Greg will work toward zero-based budgeting for all departments to justify dollars needed. He will also be a voice for and work toward the elimination of duplication across all departments at the administration levels.
HISD must continue to tackle the issue of students who drop out of school. Efforts have been made. But more can be done. There is opportunity to partner with business and faith-based groups to encourage students to stay in school. Through fostering a relationship with educators and the community, we can see better results in our graduation numbers.
With the resignation of HISD Superintendent Abe Savaadra, Greg is working with the current HISD board in leading the massive task to recruit, vet, and hire the next Superintendent. As always, he has sought the input of constituents in District VI.
Your input and your opinions have always been a top priority for Greg. Greg meets monthly with a Community Advisory Committee for input and feedback on HISD progress and needs. He also has a Teacher Advisory Committee which gives critical feedback on the teacher needs in the classroom. Greg meets regularly with PTO and civic groups for their insight regarding school-based issues. He also meets with business groups to encourage engagement with local schools. Please contact Greg here [1] and let him know your thoughts about HISD policy and improvement opportunities.
