AUSTIN, TX. – The Texas office of the National Federation of Independent Business, the state’s leading small business association, today announced its endorsement of Greg Meyers in House District 149.
"Greg Meyers is the pro-small business candidate in this race. He is keenly aware of the issues facing small business owners," said NFIB/Texas Executive Director Will Newton. "His policy positions have indicated his support of many of NFIB's priority issues, including workforce development, job growth, lawsuit reform and changes to the newly devised business tax.”
NFIB's political support is based on the candidates' positions and records on small business issues. Meyers’ endorsement comes from NFIB SAFE (Save America's Free Enterprise) Trust, the organization's political action committee. The endorsement brings the considerable grassroots support of Texas’ small business owners to the Meyers campaign.
"I'm honored to receive the support of the voice of small business. As a small business owner myself I know that we are the backbone of the economy,” Meyers said. “I've seen firsthand many of the challenges confronting the Texas business climate. I'm committed to lowering our tax burden, promoting the free enterprise system, and reducing frivolous lawsuits that drain our economic resources.”
Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the influential small business voting bloc on Election Day. According to NFIB polling data, small business owners and their employees make up 43 percent of registered voters in America.
