Business Group PAC Backs Small Business Owner in HD 149 Race

HOUSTON, TEXAS - The political arm of one of the Houston region’s largest business organizations today endorsed Republican State House candidate Greg Meyers in House District 149. Meyers, a small business owner, is facing off against incumbent State Rep. Hubert Vo (D – Alief).

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national association representing more than 24,000 merit shop construction and construction related firms in 78 chapters across the United States and the political arm of the group, ABC Greater Houston Political Action Committee, works to educate the public and elected leaders on issues related to the construction industry.

The organization endorsed Meyers because of his strong support for expanded transparency and competition in government contracting. Laura Price, Chairman of ABC’s Houston Chapter said, “Greg Meyers is the kind of leader we need in state government. He’s not afraid to tackle the tough issues and provide real leadership to help solve problems.”

Meyers thanked the group for their support and said, “I’m a strong believer in open, honest and fair competition. I’ve worked hard at HISD for improved efficiency and greater transparency in how we do business. I’m committed to bringing these same principles to state government. The ABC PAC endorsement comes on the heels of other major endorsement announcements for Meyers including the Independent Electrical Contractors Association, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Harris County Deputies Organization and the C Club.
